The Indian Railways is all set to develop a 400-room budget hotel near Gandhinagar railway station. The hotel will come up in close proximity to Mahatma Mandir, a key venue for all major state sponsored events, including Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas.
Ahmedabad divisional railway manager (DRM) Rahul Agarwal said that after Surat, Gandhinagar is the second railway station to be developed on a public private partnership (PPP) model.
“The proposed hotel to be developed by Indian Railway Management Authority (IRMA) in partnership with private players is first of its kind in India,” said Agarwal.
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed by the state government and Indian Railways to develop Gandhinagar station. The railways have also invited expression of Interest for developing this hotel cum railway hub.
