Indian Railways to open more executive lounges

06 Jun

Indian rail passengers will soon be able to relax in comfort before their journeys following the establishment of new “Executive Lounges” at stations across the country.

The Railways Ministry has entrusted the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) with the task of setting up new lounges at 49 stations in India.

These new facilities, which will be available to all passengers for a charge, will offer services such as Wi-Fi, F&B, washing and changing facilities, and concierge services. Passengers will require photo ID and valid train ticket to access the lounges.

Currently, Executive Lounges are in operation at stations in New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Charges at the Delhi lounge start from INR150 (US$2.25) for the first two hours  and INR50 for every hour thereafter, while at Jaipur and Agra the initial two-hour charge is INR100, followed by INR50 per hour after that.

Additional charges are collected for optional services like meals and business centre use.
