The Rotary Club of Vizag Elites Saturday adopted Simhachalam Railway Station for cleanliness activity for a period of one year, marking the conclusion of Sardar Patel United Clean India drive, organised by Waltair division of East Coast Railway.
Mytri Star Enterprises would conduct the cleanliness activity for November by appointing four workers.
As a part of the drive from October 11 to 31, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway organised cleanliness activity at Simhachalam Railway station in association with Rotary Club of Vizag Elites and at Visakhapatnam Railway station in association with Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation Saturday.
On the occasion, divisional railway manager (DRM) Chandralekha Mukherjee said that Simhachalam was considered for the cleanliness programme as it witnessed a large number of pilgrims. Simultaneously, the Railways organised Swachh Rail cleanliness activity at Visakhapatnam Railway station.
Along with the DRM, the officers, staff, Scouts and Guides, students of AGL College and Sri Varaha Nrusimaha Swami Auto Sankshema Sangam took part in the cleanliness activity. Stickers were pasted on the auto-rickshaws at the Simhachalam Railway Station scripted as ‘I Campaign for Swachh Bharat’ to create awareness on ‘Swachh Bharat – Swachh Rail’ campaign.
To encourage greenery in the area of the Simhachalam station, a Green Plantation campaign was organised by planting saplings.
