Officials of National Institute of Design (NID), Paldi, are all set to meet the Union railway minister visiting the city on Saturday. They will give a presentation of their projects on designing diesel engines and how design intervention can ensure better services in railways.
Pradyumna Vyas, director, NID, said, “Design can make a lot of difference in Indian railways. It will create better facilities for passengers. Design can make a difference in terms of seats, passage, accessible platform, signage, etc.”
He added, “We will also present to him examples of our ongoing work on design of diesel engines and the proposal of the Railway Research Centre.”
Union railway minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will visit the city to inaugurate two trains and Wi-Fi facility at Ahmedabad railway station. Ahmedabad-Chennai Express and Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Jansadharan Express will be inaugurated on Saturday.
