Keeping track of the trains passing through Vijayawada is easier with the Signal and Telecommunications Department facilitating the viewing of ‘live trains’ arrival and departure status’ (live TAD) on the Web and GPRS-enabled mobile phones from Wednesday.
Hitherto, the live TAD could be seen only on the TV screens in the railway station, Siti Info channel or through telephonic enquiries. This facility was available for knowing the status of trains moving through Secunderabad only.
Vijayawada station got the distinction of being the second one in SCR to have it, though belatedly.
The live TAD can from now be viewed on high-end mobile phones equipped with GPRS (general packet radio service) and the World Wide Web (WWW) by visitinghttp://22.214.171.124:8084/bzatad.
The live TAD status at Vijayawada station was first provided on the South Central Railway’s Vijayawada division page on the Facebook on a trial basis and opened for larger access through the WWW and mobile phones after it received encouraging response from users of the popular social networking site.
The system is updated every five seconds and it has options for viewing either arrival or departure timings or both of them with platform numbers, in Hindi, Telugu or English languages.
